Classes for 2025-26 Introduction to Literary Analysis

Description

This high school-level class will introduce students to the art of writing about literature.  We will be reading, primarily, a variety of short stories and students will practice recognizing story structure and literary elements and devices.  Students will use this knowledge to analyze various stories and develop and defend theses in critical analysis paragraphs and essays.  They will learn to quote from a source and cite it.

We will review the elements of the standard paragraph and essay as these will be the primary format for their writing.

The class includes SAT vocabulary and a grammar component.

Students receive personalized feedback on their writing.
