Introduction to the Essay

Advanced Class

  • Registration Deposit $50 - Paid after receipt of registration. Mrs. Luiz will contact you.

  • Fee: $750/yr - 28 weeks (May be paid in two installments, $375 in August and $375 in January)

Classes for 2025-26 Introduction to the Essay

Descritpion

Students tackle the standard in academic writing: the essay.  The instructor will break down the elements of the essay from concise thesis statements and strong supporting paragraphs to engaging introductions and memorable conclusions. 

Students will practice their new skills with a variety of essay forms:

expository, descriptive, persuasive, comparison, response to literature, and research.  

Class includes SAT vocabulary and a grammar component.  

Students receive personalized feedback on their writing. 

 

Materials to Purchase

  • Fix-It Grammar Book teacher/student combo Frog Prince

  • Fix-It Grammar Cards  (Optional. This set works with all levels.)

  • Writing Reference Student Resource Packet (if not already owned)
